Ready Teddy…

Speaking of enlightenment…Dylan put me up on this…
TedsaAventine

The British Teddy Boy subculture was typified by young men wearing clothes inspired by the styles of the Edwardian period, which Savile Row tailors had tried to re-introduce after World War II. The group got its name after a 1953 newspaper headline shortened Edward to Teddy and coined the term Teddy Boy (also known as Ted). The subculture started in London in the 1950s and rapidly spread across the UK, soon becoming strongly associated with American rock and roll music of the period. Although there had been youth groups with their own dress codes called “Scuttlers” in 19th century Manchester and Liverpool, Teddy Boys were the first youth group in England to differentiate themselves as teenagers, thus helping to create a youth market.

SOMETIMES…

Sometimes

Yesterday I had a great conversation with a good friend of mine, Dylan Adair. Dylan and I have known each other for quite sometime now, and how we met is another story in itself. Dylan is some one that I have the utmost respect for. I can’t tell you how many times he has blessed me with powerful words of wisdom, and encouragement. Dylan is not only a great friend brother of mine, but is an extremely talented designer and not limited to one aspect of the word. Every time I speak with him, their isn’t a doubt in my mind that I am walking away from the conversation richer in the mind…THANK YOU for everything past, present and future my brother…

To see more of his work and light from his world follow this link and enjoy…

in·ter·lude = \ˈin-tər-ˌlüd\

1 : a usually short simple play or dramatic entertainment
2 : an intervening or interruptive period, space, or event : interval
3 : a musical composition inserted between the parts of a longer composition

Speaking of which…here is a cover of the classic song “Interlude” in which Morrissey (of The Smiths) and Siouxsie (of Siouxsie & the Banshees) recorded in 1994.

This is…

RADIO CLASH!

Just as powerful as it was back then, it is just as powerful still today! It is time to take back what is ours…our ears, our thoughts, our freedoms…HearHere are the lyrics to the ever empowering song by one of the most empowering groups of our time! REST IN POWER JOE STRUMMER!

Interrupting all programmes

This is radio clash from pirate satellite

Orbiting your living room,
Cashing in the bill of rights
Cuban army surplus or refusing all third lights
This is radio clash on pirate satellite

This sound does not subscribe
To the international plan
In the psycho shadow of the white right hand
Then that see ghettology as an urban viet nam
Giving deadly exhibitions of murder by napalm

This is radio clash tearing up the seven veils
This is radio clash please save us, not the whales
This is radio clash underneath a mushroom cloud
This is radio clash
You dont need that funeral shroud

Forces have been looting
My humanity
Curfews have been curbing
The end of liberty

Hands of law have sorted through
My identity
But now this sound is brave
And wants to be free – anyway to be free

This is radio clash on pirate satellite
This is not free europe
Noh an armed force network
This is radio clash using audio ammunition
This is radio clash can we get that world to listen?
This is radio clash using aural ammunition
This is radio clash can we get that world to listen?
This is radio clash on pirate satellite
Orbiting your living room,
Cashing in the bill of rights
This is radio clash on pirate satellite
This is radio clash everybody hold on tight

A-riggy diggy dig dang dang

45′s make the world go ’round…

NMO3597_mp

WOW! Only if I had an extra $275,000.00 in my bank, I might be tempted to buy this…I mean, I know there would be a bunch of songs that would be of no significance to my life, but for the ones that were and are, I think this would be a great “impulse buy” haha… 45′s for days…I wonder how long it would take to listen to each and every song in that collection…

To be clear, it contains each and every 45 RPM vinyl record that was listed on the Billboard Top 100® Rock and Pop charts from Jan. 1, 1955, through Dec. 31, 1990. Absolutely every disc for 35 years, every No. 100 up to every No. 1. There are some 18,400 records total. Some are even autographed. How about the Beatles’ 1964 hit “Ain’t She Sweet” with picture sleeve, worth a cool $500; or the Beach Boys’ 1961 hit “Surfin’ Luau” worth $200. There are literally hundreds of extremely collectible 45s — and the collection in its entirety is priceless.

Pretty cool…if anyone wants to donate this collection, I would appreciate, seriously, I would lol…

HI-atus…

Aloha and Hello again…

As some of you may know things have been pretty hectic, in a good way, the last couple months…

…from family and friends visiting, my awesome sister and us at dinner…
sister
…to work, to life…To say the least, my hands have been full, no complaints, if anything giving THANKS! Very blessed to be in the state of mind that I am in…also wouldn’t want to be anywhere else then Hawai’i…The State of Mine…

Having said that, a lot of things have been going on around me and with me…
Did some work on Ma’o Organic Farms which is located in Waianae, Oahu. For more information on Ma’o Farms follow this link.
Ma'o Farms

We have been keeping ourselves busy with FITTED as well, have some big projects in the works and some on deck waiting for their unveiling…Big Tings
Soon come…check our website daily to get your ALOHA.

On top of all that, I moved into a new house…
moving
…which has been great, so that has been good…I am currently writing this post from my lanai…like I said, I am blessed!photo
Went on my 2nd annual camping trip with some friends and family, as always an amazing time with some great people…thank you guys for everything! I opted to sleep in my truck, a 1973 International Scout II…my baby, I slept in a tent last time, so this time I wanted to keep it real Old School and ruff it out in the truck…one of the most comfortable nights of sleep till this day haha…OK that may not be a hundred percent true, but it was comfortable…camping

Been taking little excursions here and there and discovering cool spots on the island that tend to get overlooked for some odd reasons…most recent discovery was in Wailua, the old sugar mill…if you haven’t checked it out, it’s pretty cool…they turned it into a little commuinity, complete with a surf shop, a soap shop and also a cool little coffee shop…here is a pic I snapped while we were there…
wailua

Some new projects of mine that are in the works are as follows and in no particular order, been getting into furniture design, found out about this cool spot called REUSE HAWAII.
reuse hawaii
This place is, for lack of better words, is basically a second hand Home Depot, but not in a bad way. They have all these cool materials, that would normally be destroyed upon demolition of the houses and or businesses that they work with. For instance, Redwood lumber, Koa Wood lumber, Vintage Art Deco shower knobs, 30′s Claw Foot bath tubs and sinks…I mean the place is packed with all kinds of cool things that just spark creativity…So I have been working with a friend of mine, Matt Bell, on some furniture pieces, sparked from the vibe at REUSE HAWAII…

Been getting more and more into photography…been working on some new ideas, which I will share on here from time to time. The next big thing that I am focusing on is starting a radio station or a podcast…The podcast will probably be the first step as I have been reading up on them and been trying to figure out the best and easiest wat to go about it, so if you guys have any suggestions, please feel free to share your tips…

In other news…two of my friends here in Hawai’i are also doing big things with some of their blogs as well.

The first blog is created by Ges also known as “KNOWxONE” as well as the “116th Assassin”, his blog is primarily focused on music. From every genre, from classic Reggae to Jazz to Hip Hop. I will be posting on his site from time to time, along with some of his good friends from all across the globe…check it out.
Manifest The Rhyme

The second blog was created by Young Nae. His blog roughly covers everything from music to lifestyle from a younger generations perspective, helps keep me feeling young lol. Check it out for yourself… Indulge Yourself In Paradise

Congrats to the both of them…Keep up the good work!

So keep your eyes and ears open and be on the look out for all of these projects, I will keep you guys posted…

So again, I take this opportunity to say thank you for your patience and welcome back and enjoy…
Time for me to jump in the pool and cool off and get right back into the swing of things…

Stay Tuned…

Now I got to cut ya’…

knife-comb-front

Now I seen it all…I mean don’t get me wrong, I really like this…it’s kind of fresh! The best part (no pun intended) about this is that now “good looks can kill”…OK that was bad…none the less…good product design. The name of this design is deemed “Comb-at”, and was created by Italian designer Lorenzo Damiani. The comb was actually designed for personal defense, to keep in your handbag or back pocket, lightweight and robust. they might be more than  a psychological help for for surviving a violent assault. So now you can sleep at night haha…

Off The Wall…and into a book!

3366262668_7c0d45d08e_oFinally this June, Vans will be releasing Off the Wall, aimed to be the definitive insider history of the brand’s first 40 years. Are you kidding me…an in depth look into a company that I have loved since my early days…I remember when my mom used to pile all of us kids in the car and take us to Norwalk to the Vans store for the sales they had…I used to come up on so many shoes and dirt cheap (me typing the actual price might offend people lol). Anyhow, I am excited, and can’t wait to sit down and read it from cover to cover. One more for the shelf!

From what I have read the book will feature stories from legends like Tony Alva, Steve Caballero, John Cardiel, Shaun Palmer and Joel Tudor as well as artists and athletes like Descendents, KISS & Bad Brains to name a few…

Pre order your copy at Amazon and follow this link to watch some cool videos regarding the book…enjoy
